Wandering Wardrobe Soup

I call this soup 'Wandering Wardrobe Soup' because Gina of the WW gave the recipe to Shanna of the WW, who gave it to me. Now I'm going to share it with you. This is a perfect soup for a day like today.

Prepare a package of yellow rice according to package instructions. (Shanna and Gina use minute rice, but I think the yellow rice gives it a little kick)

Add the following:

2 10 oz cans Rotelle diced tomatoes (the kind with cilantro and lime added)
1 small can refried beans
2 cups diced cooked chicken. You can use canned, leftover, or the kind you'll find barbequed at the grocery store.
1 can yellow hominy
2 cans chicken broth

Mix together and heat through. Garnish with avacado, grated cheese, fresh tomatoes, fresh cilantro, chopped onions, sour cream - whatever you like. Serve with tortilla chips

Sometimes You Need a Little Help From Your Friends

Every once in awhile, we find ourselves in a position where we need a little help from our friends. Jill Strasburg finds herself in that position now. She must have major surgery to save her life. The surgery is scheduled for April 14, 2010, but the hospital is demanding payment by April 12. Jill has been able to come up with $15,000 of the $20,000 she needs, but needs help gathering the extra $5,000.

It isn't easy asking for money, but since Jill would like to live a long and happy life with her new husband, she has set up a blog and a page on facebook in order to attempt to collect the needed money.

Jill worked for the Wandering Wardrobe in about 2001 when she was in high school. I never saw her without a smile on her face. And I never asked her to do any task that she didn't cheerfully do. She's helped me lots of times, and now I'd like to help her.

We are auctioning the standing mirror you see here. If you'd like to place a bid, either log onto Jill's blog, http://thestrasburgfamily.blogspot.com, and make a comment in the comment box, or drop into the store and place a secret bid in the 'flip flop' bag hanging on the mirror. We'll see that all bids are recorded by April 12 at 11:00 a.m., and notify the winner, who can then donate the amount of his or her bid as outlined on Jill's blog.

If you don't want or need a standing mirror, and can donate any amount, no matter how small, please log onto Jill's blog, http://thestrasburgfamily.blogspot.com, and donate using the paypal button. If you'd rather drive to Family First Credit Union, her account number is 75481. Or, you can send a check to Jill Strasburg, 339 East 300 North, Springville, Utah 84663.

Be sure to stop by the Wandering Wardrobe 511 South Main Street in Springville, on Friday, February 12, 2010 between the hours of 3 and 6. Jessica Bolda of Ellabelle Jewelry will be our special guest, and you won't want to miss out!
